Jordanelle and Deer Valley Real Estate - Deer Crest Highway 40 "Portal" Almost Complete
Once in a while, ski resorts undergo expansions, and the real estate and communities in the area can benefit from having the skiing move closer to their front doors.
Deer Valley’s new terrain, lifts and East Village Base area is more than just expansion of ski terrain and a base area. There’s thousands of new homes and condos planned for the area that are going to have a major ski area as a new neighbor.
Highway 40 is a major interstate, that has been a barrier between the Northwestern side of the Jordanelle and access to skiing at Deer Valley’s Deer Crest Gondola, which has operated for decades. There are many residential and resort style communities, either under construction or planned for this Northwestern side of the Jordanelle. The Skyridge community features over 500 homesite and amenities - already with fifty + existing homes with about the same number under construction. Communities of various sizes are under construction along the Jordanelle Parkway – and eventually, thousands of residences and commercial amenities will be located in this area.
For the past couple of years, an underpass (portal) has been under construction – under highway 40, connecting the Jordanelle Parkway to the Deer Crest Gondola area. This portal is now almost complete and will finally create very quick and easy access to skiing at Deer Valley for the residents (future and present) of this growing area.
It would be difficult to say how much the area is growing, and having this easy access to skiing - at Deer Valley - become a reality will create even more interest in the area. There are currently townhomes and homes under construction, homesites for sale, with so much more on the horizon in the coming months and years. For now, much of the existing and newly built real estate is being sold at a fraction of the price of properties located in Park City – that are a similar distance to skiing.
Obviously, there are trade-offs. Park City is an established community, and the Jordanelle is a growing area. Restaurants and shops are coming but haven’t been built yet. The trail system has expanded into the Jordanelle area, with single track and bike paths. There are state parks on both sides of the lake, with soft vessel launch on the east side, and the marina and beaches on the more established west side.
Buyers are attracted to the new and newer residences, and somewhat lower price points. The restaurants, grocery store, shopping will come - for now though, it's an area that's taking shape.
