The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) has recognized what we have known for years in Park City: that Park City and the surrounding communities have some of the best mountain biking in the country and world, and that the summers in Park City are the reason most locals decide to stay in Park City long term.
I’ve heard many Park City residents and second homeowners say that they come for the winter and stay for the summer. As a 34 year Park City resident, I couldn’t agree more. Winter activities are plentiful- no question. And...summers in ski and mountain towns are even better.

Why? The weather is great. The town can still be busy, but there is still a more relaxed atmosphere. Outdoor concerts are featured in a different venue every evening of the week. And, we have the best mountain biking and hiking trail system on the planet.
The IMBA ranks locations on comprehensive criteria including number of miles of trails, and the variety of trail types available to users of all ability levels, trailhead facilities, and apres biking options (local bars, restaurants, so on). After considering their criteria, Park City, Utah was designated as the world’s first Gold Level Ride Center.

Park City residents have placed the preservation of open space and trails as a huge priority, and Park City has successfully defined itself as a summer recreation destination. It’s true- Park City has grown- new real estate developments have appeared. Park City and Summit County have also acquired huge amounts of open space, and invested time, money and resources into preserving them, and creating a world – class, marked trail system.
The mountain biking trails system is accessible to users of all ability levels, and residents of every Park City community. Every neighborhood has a connection to the various trail systems, and each year, these systems are becoming seamlessly connected. From your Park City home, you can take a short walk on the trails, or an epic mountain bike ride- up to you.
Both the Mountain Trails Foundation and the Snyderville Basin Recreation Deprartment have done an amazing job of planning, building, and maintaining the Park City trail system, and depend on local support to keep doing so.
