Canyons Real Estate- Times Have Changed

Vail took over operation of the Canyons in May 2013, and immediately started adding improvements on the ski area, and in the base village.  Vail also acquired Park City Mountain Resort in September 2014, and has now connected the two ski areas, creating the largest ski area in the United States.  As a base area, The Canyons now has it’s own, stand alone identity- visitors and owners can have a complete vacation experience at the Canyons.
When we moved to Park City in 1981, The Canyons was Parkwest.  Best case, Parkwest ski area was known locally for fewer crowds, and a more rustic experience.  To me, Parkwest mostly was a smaller mountain, old chairlifts, and low elevation terrain.  Parkwest briefly…

Are building costs rising?  How much per square foot do people expect to spend on new construction?

The Park City and Deer Valley real estate market has become more competitive for buyers in the last few years.  When faced with limited choices of existing homes, building a new home can sometimes be a good option.  As a Park City Realtor, my clients sometimes ask:  Is there more value in purchasing an existing home, or vacant lot and building a new home?  I am also asked about the approximate costs to build a home in Park City and Deer Valley.

Looking for a contemporary mountain retreat in Park City or Deer Valley?

Contemporary homes and condominiums have become extremely popular in Park City and Deer Valley during the past few years.  In both Park City and Deer Valley, homes and entire condominium projects are being built or remodeled in a contemporary style.

The style seems to be emerging in every Park City and Deer Valley neighborhood and setting.   Contemporary residences with seem to be a natural fit in Ski in, ski out communities, that in the past, had been dominated by residences with a more western, mountain style.    Contemporary homes are now seen alongside traditional equestrian estates in the equestrian friendly communities along Old Ranch Road and Silver Creek.
